e-tron technology

First unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show the ‘e-tron’ name has been applied to a number of cutting-edge concept cars featuring electric and hybrid drive-terrains. The following concept cars all feature the e-tron name and a number of innovative, alternative fuel technologies:

Audi e-tron Frankfurt showcar

Powered by four electric engines, one at each wheel, this ground breaking concept is a true quattro. With a range of 154 miles on a single charge and the equivalent of 312PS and 4,500Nm of torque the Audi e-tron Frankfurt showcar is also a true supercar.

Audi e-tron Detroit showcar

Revealed to a stunned crowd at the 2010 Detroit Motor Show the Audi e-tron Detroit showcar is quite a unique Audi – power only goes to the rear wheels. Featuring two electric motors, one powering each rear wheel this sporty concept car can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.9 seconds.

Audi A1 e-tron

Although arguably not as striking as the previously shown concept cars the A1 e-tron is perhaps the most innovative. Featuring a combination of electric motor and a 254cc wankel petrol engine the A1 e-tron is capable of 148.7mpg whilst emitting just 45g/km of CO2.
