ŠKODA UK goes for gold with Olympian Ed Clancy

ŠKODA UK has signed double Olympian Ed Clancy as a brand ambassador.
Milton Keynes, 20th May 2013 – The partnership with the pro cyclist, who won gold in the team pursuit at last summer’s Olympic Games, will help to strengthen the manufacturer’s association with the sport.
This two-year deal cements SKODA UK's long-standing association with cycling, which already includes sponsorship of the Tour of Britain, Prudential RideLondon and pro teams Rapha Condor-JLT and Matrix Fitness.
ŠKODA UK will use its sponsorship activity to promote the benefits of cycling and to encourage more British families to take up the sport. ŠKODA UK enjoys an outstanding reputation among cyclists, and looks to continue to build its support of the sport over the coming years.
Heidi Cartledge, Head of Marketing for ŠKODA UK, commented: “Cycling is enjoying a huge revival in the UK at the moment and ŠKODA is incredibly proud to be part of it. Britain boasts many of the sport’s brightest stars, including Ed Clancy. We’re really excited to have Ed on board and hope that this will inspire families all over the UK to get out on their bikes and have fun!”
ŠKODA has a long association with cycling, dating back to the start of the company in 1895 when its founders Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement began manufacturing bicycles in their home town of Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic. The manufacturer provides vehicles to the Tour de France and the Tour of Britain, as well as other major cycling races across the world.
