VW Electronic Brake Force Distribution
Every car's centre of gravity shifts forwards when you brake. This creates a reduction in grip which can cause the rear wheels to lock. Electronic brake force distribution uses the solenoid valves in the ABS unit to regulate the braking power at the rear wheels. This ensures maximum braking performance at the front and rear wheels and, under normal conditions, prevents the rear end from swerving out because of over-braking at the rear. Electronic brake force distribution operates as part of the ABS function: the EBD operating range ends at the point where the ABS control cuts in.
